I. Repasito
Conjuga los verbos en el imperfecto.
Your Weebly should include pages for the following:
Unit 1:
Your Weebly will be part of your final exam. The final exam will also include speaking, listening, reading, and writing parts.
After we come back from break, we will work on the different parts over a few days. While everyone is working on the reading and writing activities, I will pull students aside to do the speaking assessment. We will all do the listening activity together on January 9th.
You will also need to improve 3 of the projects on your Weebly.
II. El imperfecto
Today we will continue to practice the imperfect tense by working on a worksheet. Remember, the imperfect tense is used:
First, you will work on the front side of the Imperfect worksheet. You will translate the sentences from English to Spanish, writing them in the imperfect.
Example: They used to have a cat.
They used to have a cat = Ellos tenían un gato.
Do not use a translator! The phrase "used to [verb]" does not literally translate into Spanish! You just need to conjugate a single verb into the imperfect. (If I see a phrase like "Solían tener un gato," then I will know you used a translator.) Using a translator is an honor code violation and you will get a zero on the assignment and will not be able to redo it.
When you complete the first side of the worksheet, you will do the following fill-in-the-blank activity to practice conjugating -ar verbs in the imperfect:
-AR verbs in the imperfect.
When you finish with the online activity, you will work on the other side of the worksheet. There is a list of words and phrases that indicate the use of the imperfect.
Using these phrases and whatever verbs you choose, you create 7 original sentences about things you used to do using the imperfect tense. Use a different verb for each sentence.
Again, none of your sentences should use the phrase "Solía" + an infinitive. Just conjugate a single verb in the imperfect.
If you finish the worksheet before class is over, practice conjugating -er and -ir verbs in the imperfect with this fill-in-the-blank activity:
-ER/-IR verbs in the imperfect

II. El imperfecto
Today we will continue to practice the imperfect tense by working on a worksheet. Remember, the imperfect tense is used:
- to talk about repeated, habitual actions in the past: ex. used to play/would go.
- to talk about activities that were in progress in the past: ex. was playing/were going.
- to describe objects/people in the past: ex. it was late/they were tired/the boy was five years old.
First, you will work on the front side of the Imperfect worksheet. You will translate the sentences from English to Spanish, writing them in the imperfect.
Example: They used to have a cat.
- Identify the verb (ex. "to have")
- Look up the verb in Spanish; don't include "to" in the dictionary (ex. "have" = "tener")
- Identify the subject of the sentence; who is doing the action? (ex. "They")
- Identify the subject in Spanish (ex. "They" = "Ellos")
- Conjugate the verb in Spanish for the subject (ex. Ellos tener --> Ellos tenían)
- Translate other words in the sentence (ex. "a cat" = "un gato"). Look up words individually.
They used to have a cat = Ellos tenían un gato.
Do not use a translator! The phrase "used to [verb]" does not literally translate into Spanish! You just need to conjugate a single verb into the imperfect.
