Below is a list of "trigger words" that indicate the use of the imperfect. These words mean "sometimes," "frequently," "always," "Mondays," etc. They imply continuing or habitual actions with no specific beginning or end.
1) Actions repeated habitually: actions done multiple times in the past with no specified beginning and end.
- Almorzábamos todos los domingos. We used to eat lunch every Sunday.
2) Actions that set the stage for other actions; a preterite verb interrupts an imperfect verb
- Estaba durmiendo cuando el teléfono sonó. I was sleeping when the phone rang.
3) Telling time and dates in the past
- Eran las cuatro de la tarde. It was four o'clock in the afternoon.
- Eran el 19 de mayo (*you can use the preterite with date/time if you're giving a specific time period. ex. Yesterday was Tuesday = Ayer fue martes)
4) Descriptions (people or places)
- La niña tenía cinco años. The girl was five years old.
- Mi amigo era bajo. My friend was short.
- Hacía calor. It was hot.
5) Emotions/Conditions/Desires
- Juan estaba enfermo. Juan was sick.
- Yo quería viajar a España. I wanted to travel to Spain.

You will create a presentation or a document in Google Drive where you will write 10 sentences and include pictures.
IV. Vocabulario
Go to Quizlet and study the vocabulary for Las verduras and Las frutas. After you study the flashcards, focus on the Learn activity.
- Go to Conjuguemos
- Click the orange Student Sign-In button and log in
- Click Spanish Verbs on the left and click "IMPERFECT TENSE: all verbs" (number 12) in the list.
- Check the box that says "Don't Time Me" and click start.
- Conjugate at least 50 verbs and get at least 90% correct. If you have less than 90%, keep conjugating.
- You can conjugate all 50 verbs at once or do two sets of 25 verbs.

- Write about your favorite foods from the ages of 2-12.
- Write a total of 10 sentences in the imperfect tense stating what you liked to eat or drink and how old you were.
- Include ten pictures of foods or drinks you liked.
- When you finish writing your sentences and adding pictures, you will embed the presentation to your Weebly.
